Choosing a motorcycle lift comes down to four numbers: how much weight it must carry, how high it needs to lift, how big the table is, and how the lift is powered. Get those four right and the rest - safety locks, ramps, tie-down points - is mostly a matter of checking that they are there. This guide uses the published specifications of the Zhida motorcycle lift range to show what each number means in a real workshop.
The number that matters is wet weight: the machine with fuel, oil and coolant on board. It typically runs 10-15% above the dry weight in the brochure.
Light dirt bikes and scooters: 250-330 lb
Mid-size street bikes: 500-700 lb
Heavy cruisers and tourers: 800-1000 lb
Trikes, ATVs and utility vehicles: 1200-1500 lb
Leave yourself at least 25% of margin on top. A 700 lb street bike on a 1000 lb lift has room to spare; the same bike on a 300 lb lift does not. The Zhida range lines up as follows:
300-360 lb - compact lifts such as the ZD04301 (300 lb, 350-870 mm, 410 x 350 mm table) and the ZD04363 (360 lb, 298-400 mm)
800 lb - ZD04082 (210-780 mm, 1750 x 490 mm)
1000 lb - the largest group, including ZD04101-450 (180-780 mm, 2060 x 550 mm) and ZD04104 (210-780 mm, 2000 x 600 mm), If you want a larger tabel, ZD04101D-500 (180-780 mm, 2200 x 680 mm) is also a common select.
1100 lb - ZD04103F (90-405 mm), ZD04103A-W (125-380 mm)

Every lift has two heights - collapsed and raised. The collapsed height decides whether the lift slides under a low bike at all; the raised height decides whether you can work standing up. The ZD04103A drops to 85 mm, low enough for most lowered customs, while the ZD04157-DM-2275 reaches 1040 mm. ZD04226-DM could be 1200 mm. Most workshop lifts sit in the 180-780 mm band, which covers oil changes, wheel removal and fork work without over-reaching.
Measure the wheelbase and add 200-300 mm. Tables of 1750-2100 mm cover most street bikes and cruisers; 2200 mm and above suit long-wheelbase tourers. Width only becomes critical once the vehicle is wider than a single machine - that is what the 1220 mm & 1450 mm platforms on the ZD04105Q and ZD04152Q-J and ZD04157-DM-2275 are for. The small 300-450 mm tables on the ZD05153D-J and ZD04103F are bench or pit units for component work, not for whole bikes.
The ramp needs to be at least as wide as the tyre contact patch. Narrow ramps of 400-450 mm are fine for motorcycles; 500-700 mm ramps make loading a heavy tourer or an ATV noticeably easier. Several models use removable or folding ramps so the lift can stand against a wall when not in use. However, some narrow designs are intended to allow the two-wheeled motorcycle to be parked centrally, so as to make the table balance.
Hydraulic (foot pedal) - no power supply needed, works anywhere, lowest cost. Most of the range, for example the ZD04101-450.
Pneumatic (air over hydraulic) - runs off a shop air line, lifts faster, less effort. See theZD04101DQ and ZD04104Q-L.
Electric - push-button operation and the highest lift heights, best for daily professional use. TheZD04157-DM (190-830 mm) and ZD04157-DM-2275 (200-1040 mm).

Use the wet weight, which is roughly 10-15% above the dry weight printed in the spec sheet, then add about 25% margin. A 700 lb cruiser is comfortably served by a 1000 lb lift such as the ZD04101-450 or ZD04104. You only need 1500 lb for trikes, ATVs or utility vehicles.
or cruiser motorcycles, there is one point that may resonate deeply with cruiser owners: many motorcycle stands and motorcycle supports on the market cannot be used on these bikes due to exhaust pipes, crash bars, and other reasons. ZHIDA offers a dedicated tool, ZD04706-FR, which can lift both the front wheel position and the rear wheel. The rear wheel features the dual function of V-shaped and L-shaped heads, and the distance between the support points can be adjusted laterally to avoid obstacles on the motorcycle body. It is highly favored by cruiser owners.
Yes for most dirt bikes, which weigh 250-300 lb wet. Models like the ZD04301 (300 lb, 350-870 mm) are built for that class, but they are not suitable for street bikes above roughly 350 lb.
